Legacy Giving

Psalm 145:4
One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.

LEAVING A GIFT IN YOUR WILL

When you make a Will, you are ensuring that your last wishes are followed, your loved ones are looked after, and that the causes you hold dear can continue to transform lives. A gift left in your Will to GCS Missions will help bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ from this generation to the next generation!

TYPES OF GIFTS

A SHARE OF YOUR ESTATE
Known as a ‘residuary legacy’, it is a percentage of what remains of your estate after all other gifts and expenses have been paid. One of the advantages of a residuary legacy is that it will always stay in proportion, because it is a percentage. So, you don’t need to worry about changing your will if you have less to leave than you expected.

A SPECIFIC SUM
This is a gift of a set amount, called a ‘pecuniary legacy.

A SPECIFIC ITEM
This could be something valuable such as an antique, painting, property or shares.

If you leave a gift to GCS Missions in your Will, the value of your gift will be deducted from your estate before Inheritance Tax is applied, so it could reduce the amount of tax paid. We recommend you discuss your Will and the type of gift you might like to leave to GCS Missions with your solicitor.

Please help us to empower and equip a generation of Christians to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the next generation!

MAKING A WILL: IN SIX STEPS

1

Make a list of what to leave

2

Decide who you want to remember in your Will

3

Ask two people you trust to be executors

4

Talk to a solicitor and ask about inheritance tax. A solicitor can offer legal advice and ensure your Will is valid and that your wishes will be met. You can also use a Will writer or online Will provider.

5

If you have included a gift to GCS Missions in your Will, you should give your solicitor our registered address and charity numbers, and they will do all the rest.

6

Keep your Will safe and tell your executors where it is and let your family know if you’ve included GCS Missions in your Will.

If you are considering leaving a gift to GCS Missions in your Will, our Legacies Team would be delighted to talk to you.

Every gift in every Will, however large or small, makes a difference that lasts lifetimes!
