GCS has been honoured to have Ron Mark serve as an Charity Ambassador supporting our rescue efforts in Ukraine. Ron is the former Minister of Defence for New Zealand, who also served as Mayor of Carterton.
In recent visits to Ukraine, our delegation had the opportunity to meet with distinguished politicians in Kyiv to identify the greatest needs and coordinate our ongoing humanitarian efforts. GCS Charity Ambassador Ron Mark met with Deputy Minister of Defence Denys Sharapov. GCS CEO Tony Anthony met with First Deputy Minister of Health Oleksandr Komarida.
As a meaningful way to mark our solidarity with Ukraine, GCS Charity Ambassador Owen Pomana arranged for Taonga gifts (treasured possession in Māori culture), which were presented to Government officials to receive on behalf of President Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy’s office. Pauline Jenks, Owen Pomana, and Ron Mark performed a Haka, a ceremonial Mãori challenge, which is usually performed as a display of strength and unity. Tony Anthony and Tamara Grishchenko had the opportunity to minister the Gospel at this auspicious occasion.
Right now GCS teams are getting ready for our next major rescue mission in Ukraine, where we will once again be transporting humanitarian food supplies, Bibles, and Gospel tracts to besieged cities in eastern and southern Ukraine.
