UNDER THE LAMB

23233_259680In Chinese writing, the word for righteousness is formed by placing the character for lamb above the character for the pronoun I.

Lamb I Righteousness

What an appropriate symbol for the righteousness God offers sinners through faith in Christ! He is the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).

Our sins form a barrier to our becoming righteous. But God will forgive them and take them away on the basis of the perfect sacrifice of His Son on the cross. To receive His forgiveness, however, our sinful pride and self-righteousness must be abandoned, and we must put ourselves under the perfect righteousness of God’s lamb.

Many good, religious people are offended by the Gospel because they want to establish their own righteousness by keeping God’s law. But that is impossible. The law, though good and spiritual, is powerless to save. It show’s to us God’s perfect standard, but because it is impossible to keep in our own strength, it only condemns.

Are you trying to be acceptable to God by living a good life? Are you trusting in your own righteousness to save you? It won’t work.  Only Jesus can take away your sin and give you His righteousness. Salvation is received, not achieved.  Are you under the Lamb?  If not, then here is a simple explanation of how you can:

The Bible says that God is “Holy”, which means perfect.  God cannot allow anything imperfect in to Heaven, otherwise it would not be Heaven any more.  All of us have a body and a soul, and when we die, our soul lives on forever, either in Heaven or Hell.  If we’ve broken just one of God’s laws, for example if we’ve ever lied once, cheated once or hated once, then our soul becomes imperfect and we cannot enter Heaven.

The Good News is that God wants to forgive us!  According to history, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to come to our world to live a perfect life, and then die a cruel painful death on a cross, to take the punishment that we all deserve for breaking His laws, so that if we put our trust in the sufficiency of what Jesus did for us and do two things we can be forgiven and one day enter Heaven.

1st…

Be willing to turn away from anything that we know is wrong in our life and say sorry to Jesus.  God promises to help us with the things that we are powerless to give up, if we allow Him.

2nd…

We must surrender our life to Jesus Christ, acknowledging Him as God, and then humble our lives to Him in service.

If we do these two things, one day when we die we will go before God on judgement day, and God will say to you, “My beautiful son or daughter, you have accepted my free gift of forgiveness through the death of my only perfect Son, Jesus Christ.  So, welcome to Heaven!”

IS THERE ANY REASON WHY YOU SHOULDN’T TURN AND SURRENDER RIGHT NOW?

WOULD YOU LIKE TO TURN AND SURRENDER RIGHT NOW?

IF SO, PLEASE SAY THIS PRAYER:

Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for me.  I am sorry for all the things I have done wrong.  Please forgive me and help me to turn away from everything I know to be wrong.  I want to put my faith in you and surrender my life to you.  Help me to start living life your way every day.  I pray in your name, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

WHAT NOW…

  1. TALK TO GOD EACH DAY: You can’t get to know anyone better than by talking to them.  Prayer is the best way to develop your relationship with God.
  2. READ GOD’S WORD DAILY: If you don’t own a Bible ask a friend or a nearby church to lend you one.
  3. TRY TO FIND A CHURCH THAT YOU LIKE: As with people all churches are different.  Try a few nearby and see which one you feel at home in.
  4. TELL SOMEONE WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOU: If possible tell a person who is a comitted Christian.
  5. REMEMBER THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF A JOURNEY THAT WILL LAST THE REST OF YOUR LIFE…

EVEN IF YOU BLOW IT GOD IS STILL WITH YOU.

HE STILL LOVES YOU.

HE’S IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL, SO HANG IN THERE!
